PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) is seeking international certification for its Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) programme before expanding it to overseas participants.
“MACA is also reviewing and enhancing its investigation training modules to ensure they remain relevant to increasingly complex enforcement challenges,” said MACA senior director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin during an engagement session between the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (LPPR) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) on Thursday (July 16).
Mohamad Zamri added that the academy had received a grant from the Foreign Affairs Ministry to organise the Executive Leadership Training on Anti-Corruption programme for participants from strategically important developing countries.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Corruption Prevention Advisory Board (LPPR) deputy chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Kassim Noor Mohamed said corruption was becoming increasingly complex.
"This is where I see MACA's role as a highly strategic institution. It is not merely a training centre, but a professional development institution responsible for producing MACC officers who are competent, strategic in their thinking and uphold the highest ethical standards.
"MACA also plays a key role in preparing officers to face future challenges in an increasingly complex anti-corruption landscape," he added.
Representing LPPR chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din said LPPR fully supported MACA's efforts in strengthening the capabilities of MACC officers while expanding cooperation at both the national and international levels.
During the engagement session, LPPR members proposed that MACA expand its role by offering more anti-corruption and integrity courses to government agencies, the private sector and international participants.
The board also suggested organising conferences on the impact of corruption to promote knowledge-sharing and public awareness, as well as assisting ministries and high-risk agencies in strengthening governance through training to implement Organisational Anti-Corruption Plans (OACP).
