OWING to the pressures of her job as a sales manager at a food and beverage company, Wan Norhasima Wan Samsudin, 34, turned to goat farming for a quieter life in Kuala Rompin, Pahang, Kosmo! reported.

Fondly known as Shima, she began her venture with six goats, purchased with the help of her husband and family members.

She now owns 25 goats and has sold more than 40 since switching careers in 2023.

Shima said she taught herself how to rear goats through social media and guidance from a veterinarian.

Her daily routine begins at 7.30am, checking on her animals, feeding them and cleaning the barn.

“Each of my pet goats has a special name, including Nuar, Minah, Mak Kundur, Rabu, Ferqan, Marfira and Deeskarputra.

“My goats are spoiled because I play and chat with them.

“They also have distinct personalities. Some are affectionate, some are naughty, while others are a little macho,” she said.

Rejecting the stereotype that farming is only suitable for men, Shima said she viewed hard work not as an obstacle but as a challenge, particularly when it comes to managing her time.

She said one of the biggest challenges was caring for first-time pregnant does and looking after their newborn kids.

> Actor Raja Atiq has urged industry players to show greater respect and courtesy on set, saying no one feels comfortable working in a toxic environment, Berita Harian reported.

The actor, whose full name is Raja Muhammad Atiqullah Shah Raja Azman Shah, 26, said the entertainment industry would be more harmonious if colleagues treated one another with basic professionalism, regardless of experience or popularity.

“When I want to reprimand someone, I first assess the situation. If the person is receptive, then I will speak up.

“If not, I will leave it alone,” he said when met at an exclusive event in Kuala Lumpur recently.

He also expressed disappointment that some newcomers to the industry displayed a nonchalant attitude.

He stressed that mutual understanding and good communication between actors are crucial for a productive working relationship.
