PEKAN NANAS: Tan Eng Meng wasted no time getting back to work after securing another term as the Pekan Nanas assemblyman, returning to the constituency to thank voters and meet residents.
Tan said the election might be over, but his responsibility to the people of Pekan Nanas would continue.
"I want to thank every voter in Pekan Nanas for your support and trust. Every vote is not just a show of support, but also a responsibility that has been entrusted to me," he said during a walkabout to thank voters, accompanied by MCA's Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, on Sunday (July 12).
Tan retained the Pekan Nanas state seat with a commanding 12,281-vote majority after polling 19,951 votes against Pakatan Harapan candidate Yeo Tung Siong, who secured 7,670 votes.
He said there were still many residents he had yet to meet personally, but he would immediately return to serving the constituency.
"I will continue going into the community, listening to the people's concerns, helping to solve their problems, and meeting residents," he said.
Tan said he would cherish the trust placed in him and continue the work that had already begun in Pekan Nanas.
"I will continue to serve Pekan Nanas to the best of my ability and complete the work that has already started," he said.
Tan said he was committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him and ensuring ongoing projects in the constituency would be carried through.
"Thank you, Pekan Nanas, and thank you to everyone who has walked this journey with me. Let us continue working together to make Pekan Nanas an even better place," he added.
