SEREMBAN: Train tickets from KL Sentral to JB Sentral and express bus tickets servicing routes from the Klang Valley to destinations in Johor have been sold out ahead of Johor’s polling day
"Also, train tickets from JB Sentral to northern destinations in the state such as Segamat, Kluang, and Labis have also been sold out," Transport Minister Anthony Loke told reporters after launching Pakatan Harapan's operations centre in Seremban Jaya.
"I was also told that some non-governmental organisations have also chartered buses to take voters back to exercise their constitutional right," he said.
On July 7, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad said it was offering 7,464 additional seats for the southern sector Electric Train Service (ETS) to accommodate travel demand from voters returning to their hometowns.
Loke expressed hope that the voter turnout would exceed 70% so that more voters take part in the election.
He said the last Johor polls only saw a turnout of 54% and this was partly due to the country's borders with Singapore being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
