Thunderstorms, heavy rain in parts of peninsula, S'wak and Labuan until noon


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan until noon Wednesday (July 8).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, as well as the whole of Penang.

In Perak, the affected areas are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung and Bagan Datuk, while Rompin in Pahang is also expected to experience similar conditions.

The warning also covers Jempol and Tampin in Negri Sembilan, the whole of Melaka, as well as Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru in Johor.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Tatau and Bintulu in Bintulu Division, as well as Subis, Miri and Marudi in Miri Division.

Labuan is also expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds during the period.
