JENGKA: The good relationship between the Pahang state government and the Federal Government is something other state leaders can learn from, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for good relations between both the federal and state governments as it helps resolve any issues smoothly.
“That way, any requests can be worked on. What Pahang is doing is something that other state leaders can learn from.
“Those who understand the reference will get it,” he said in his address at the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) Settlers’ Day and Felda’s 70th anniversary celebration at Stadium Tun Abdul Razak here on Tuesday (July 7).
Anwar also urged for greater cooperation among both the federal and state governments alongside the willingness to negotiate.
This comes as both Anwar and caretaker Johor mentri besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi traded barbs over the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Anwar later said the JS-SEZ should not be used as campaign material for the Johor polls, and that the project was a federal government initiative implemented in cooperation with the state government.
On another matter, Anwar encouraged future Settlers’ Day and Felda anniversary celebrations to be held in areas with a strong Felda presence.
He said this not only reduces costs but also makes it more meaningful for the settlers themselves.
“At the same time, local traders are able to reap the benefits of the large crowds present.
“The cost is also far lower as compared to holding such an event in Malaysia’s capital.
“The saved funds can also be channelled back to Felda settlers,” he said.
