Civil servants must uphold integrity, neutrality to ensure policy continuity, says DPM Fadillah

KUALA LUMPUR: Civil servants must remain committed to the principles of integrity, professionalism, and neutrality in carrying out their duties to ensure national stability and policy continuity amid an increasingly dynamic political landscape, says Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Deputy Prime Minister said every policy formulated and implemented must be guided by the national interest and the well-being of the people, free from the influence of changing political conditions.

"The continuity of sound policies is crucial to ensuring the nation remains competitive, strengthening governance, and maintaining investor confidence and economic stability," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (July 7).

Fadillah conveyed the message when attending the Advanced Leadership and Management Programme (ALMP) Discourse Series 87, No. 2/2026 at the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.

He said that in the face of geopolitical challenges, global economic uncertainty, and pressure on national finances, the entire civil service machinery must maintain a forward-looking mindset, act strategically, and manage national resources responsibly.

At the same time, he stressed that the welfare of the people must always remain a priority through the implementation of sustainable and prudent policies.

"The mandate of a civil servant goes beyond merely performing tasks. It carries a profound responsibility to ensure Malaysia continues to progress as a prosperous, resilient, and thriving nation for the benefit of both current and future generations," he said.- Bernama
