Two Malaysians injured in Narathiwat blast


KOTA BARU: Two Malaysians were injured after the sports utility vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a bomb blast in Narathiwat province, Thailand.

According to Sinar Harian, the incident is believed to have occurred in Phrai Wan, Tak Bai district at about 11.41am local time yesterday.

The two men sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Authorities are currently securing the area and carrying out checks at the blast site.

The route from Sapom Junction to Kampung Saba Baharu in Tak Bai district has been closed to allow the bomb disposal unit and forensic teams to investigate and examine the scene in detail.

Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, when contacted, confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

He advised the public to postpone travel to the region for now.
