Man arrested for setting motorcycle ablaze over debt dispute

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man for setting a motorcycle on fire over a debt.

Cheras OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud stated that the incident took place on June 24 at Flat Sri Johor.

A raid on June 27 led to the successful apprehension of the suspect at a residence in Desa Pandan.

Investigations revealed that the motive for the fire was related to debts, and it only affected a single motorcycle.

Police, in a statement on Monday (June 29), have also confirmed that the fire was not the work of loan sharks and that the suspect acted alone.

The case has been classified under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire.

The suspect is currently being remanded for four days until July 1 to assist with further investigations.
