Budi Diesel early rollout off to a smooth start

PETALING JAYA: The Budi Diesel early access rollout for eligible private diesel vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia ran smoothly with nearly 24,000 transactions recorded on the first day.

The Finance Ministry said the transactions on Saturday amounted to one million litres of diesel worth RM2.1mil at RM2.15 per litre.

“By 11am on June 28, the Budi Madani official portal received over 13,000 new applications for an additional 100 litres per month.

“This addition increases the total diesel subsidy quota to 300 litres per month for eligible pickup and jeep owners.

“The MyKad verification system at petrol stations also worked well with no serious complaints or issues reported,” it said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

The ministry said the early access rollout is to prepare for the full nationwide implementation of Budi Diesel starting July 1, which will enable eligible citizens to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre via MyKad verification.
