Fire destroys three business kiosks at Petaling Street market

KUALA LUMPUR: Three business kiosks in the tourist hotspot of Petaling Street Market on Jalan Hang Lekir here were destroyed in a fire shortly after midnight on Friday (June 26).

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that its Operations Control Centre received an emergency call at 12.21am, prompting personnel from the Hang Tuah, Pudu and Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Stations to be dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found that the blaze involved three kiosks, each measuring 10 by 10 square feet, with all three completely destroyed," the statement said.

The firefighting operation ended at 1.21am and no casualties were reported.

It said the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation. - Bernama
