Johor cops: 153 reports lodged against Puad Zarkashi


JOHOR BARU: Police have received 153 reports nationwide regarding the statements made by the former Johor speaker, Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the figures were recorded as of 3pm on Thursday (June 25) and expected more reports will come in.

He said the first two reports were lodged in Johor Baru on Thursday at 10.53am and 12.13pm from the caretaker executive councillor and caretaker Johor Mentri Besar’s political secretary, respectively.

“Investigations on the matter will be conducted according to the country’s legal provisions," Comm Ab Rahaman said in a statement.

He said they were Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

“We like to advise the public to fully respect the ongoing investigation processes and refrain from making comments or speculations which could jeopardise the investigation," added Comm Ab Rahaman.

He said police would take stern action against individuals found to be misusing any network facilities, network service, or application service.
