KUALA LUMPUR: Association of Employment Agencies Malaysia urges an independent assessment of the proposed Universal Recruitment Advanced Platform (Turap) before government decisions are made.
The association requested the Prime Minister's directive for evaluations covering economic, labour market, and investment implications. It also pointed out the need to evaluate the impact of Turap on existing legislation and recruitment processes.
It emphasised the need for stakeholder consultation and transparency regarding governance and operational frameworks.
“The findings should be made available and duly considered before any decision is made,” it said in its resolution following the association's annual general meeting on Thursday (Jun 25).
In April, the Human Resources Ministry stated that proposals for a digital foreign worker recruitment system are still under evaluation.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also later said the proposed Turap system will be presented to the Cabinet for deliberation before the Home Ministry takes an official position.
