Sabah Education Dept probing viral Tenom bullying video

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Education Department has opened an investigation into a video of a girl assaulting her crying hostel mate, believed to have occurred at a school in Tenom.

In the viral one-minute 30-second clip, a girl can be seen pulling the hair of another girl, who is crouching by the wall and crying.

Other girls could also be heard telling the perpetrator, “Enough,” before asking the crying girl to stop and wash her face.

When contacted, Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin confirmed the matter and said an investigation was ongoing.

The case closely follows the Zara Qairina Mahathir incident, where Zara was said to have been a victim of abuse and bullying.

Her death sparked a huge outburst, resulting in peaceful demonstrations and gatherings calling for justice.

The inquest into Zara’s case is ongoing and expected to conclude by Oct 23.
