Strong earthquake strikes Russia, no tsunami threat to Malaysia, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale was detected off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia, at 2.52pm on Friday (June 19).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10km, with its epicentre located 128km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Russia.

However, an initial assessment found that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
