SHAH ALAM: A reshuffle of posts within Perikatan Nasional is allowed under its constitution, says Selangor PAS deputy Information chief Dr Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusoff.
He said the decision was in line with the powers allocated under Article 8.3(V), 8.3(VI) and 8.3(VII) of the Perikatan constitution.
He said it provides powers for the Perikatan chairman to appoint the treasurer-general, deputy secretary-general and elections director.
"In this case, it was the Perikatan chairman who appointed Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and he also made the decision to dismiss them.
"So the action taken by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar is in accordance with the constitution," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (June 18), reported Sinar Harian.
He also took note of the announcement that the Perikatan supreme council would meet soon.
Nurul Islam said although the meeting agenda had not been announced, he believed that various issues currently plaguing the coalition would be discussed.
"Congratulations to Ahmad Samsuri for daring to make decisions in the management of Perikatan and I am confident that the journey of this party coalition will be smoother," he said.
Earlier, Perikatan announced that Mohd Radzi had been terminated from his duties as the party's elections director with immediate effect and would be replaced by Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor.
The treasurer post previously held by Muhammad Sanusi would be filled by Malaysian Indian People's Party deputy president S. Subramaniam.
Perikatan deputy secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was also relieved of his post.
Ahmad Samsuri said the restructuring was made ahead of the Johor and Negri Sembilan polls.
