PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist arrested for allegedly slashing another rider on the motorcycle lane of the Federal Highway on Thursday morning (June 11) has been remanded for four days.
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Sarudin Samah said the 43-year-old local man was detained to facilitate investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
“The suspect has been remanded for four days for further investigations, while the 45-year-old local male victim is still receiving treatment at Hospital Shah Alam and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said on Friday (June 12).
Earlier, the media reported that a motorcyclist was injured after being slashed by another rider in an incident on the Federal Highway motorcycle lane near Section 13 here early Thursday morning.
The victim reportedly suffered injuries to the back of his neck, arm and hand.
ACP Sarudin said police received an emergency call through the MERS 999 hotline at 8.19am regarding the incident.
Initial investigations found that the incident occurred at about 7am when the 45-year-old victim was riding to his workplace in Kuala Lumpur.
“While travelling along the route, the victim sounded his horn at another motorcyclist who was believed to be blocking his path.
“However, the action allegedly angered the suspect, a 43-year-old local man, who stopped by the roadside and slashed the victim with a meat cleaver,” he said.
