Body of 64-year-old man found in drain in Kepala Batas

KEPALA BATAS: The body of an elderly man was found in a drain at Kampung Kolam, Jalan Merbau Kudung here on Saturday (June 6), with injuries to his left ankle.

Seberang Perai Utara OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Abdul Rahman said police received a report on the discovery of the 64-year-old man’s body from a man who was on his way to go fishing in the nearby area.

"Investigations found that the victim was last seen by a witness about two days before the incident.

"Checks at the scene did not reveal any clues or exhibits that could assist the investigation,” he said in a statement on Sunday (June 7).

ACP Anuar said post-mortem results showed that the cause of death was drowning, with no elements of criminal foul play detected on the victim’s body.

The injury to the left ankle is believed to have been caused by a fall into the drain.

Members of the public with information are urged to contact investigating officer SM Jefri Hussain at 04-576 2222 extension 2275 or visit the nearest police station to assist investigations. — Bernama
