Bersatu reiterates commitment to maintain good relations with PAS

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu has reiterated its determination and commitment to maintain good relations with PAS in Perikatan Nasional.

Its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this after saying that he had received a letter from PAS secretary-general dated June 6.

The letter is about the relationship between Bersatu and PAS as well as suggestions to strengthen Perikatan.

“I will give the necessary attention to the suggestions made and bring them to the party Supreme Council meeting for a more detailed discussion,” he said in a post on his social media on Sunday (June 7).

Earlier, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said they will review the party's cooperation with Bersatu, with the matter to be discussed at the PAS central committee meeting after deliberations by the Syura Council.

On May 22, Hadi said PAS would review its cooperation with Bersatu in Perikatan, accusing the latter party of stopping others from joining Perikatan.

Relations between the parties turned sour after former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin was sacked from the party in February over allegations that he had sabotaged the party.
