SEREMBAN : The ruling chiefs (Undang) and the Tunku Besar Tampin have strongly objected to the move by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to dissolve the state legislative assembly.
In a legal letter addressed to State Speaker Datuk MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman, the five said they opposed the move as their consent was not sought before the dissolution was announced.
The letter was sent through law firm Deidra Sharina & Co.
“We have been instructed by our clients to forward an official letter to state their strong objection to the announcement on the dissolution of the state assembly by the MB around 11pm on June 4.
“Until this letter was issued, no consent was sought from our clients on the said dissolution,” the letter said.
The legal firm said the move was also against provisions in Articles 28(1) and (2), 38(4), 56(2) of the Laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan.
It said if the dissolution was not reversed, it could lead to legal implications which include the legitimacy of the election result.
The law firm said the ruling chiefs and Tunku Besar Tampin want the state Speaker to take immediate measures to correct the situation.
“My clients believe you will respect the rule of law and constitutional principles that protect the sovereignty of Negri Sembilan by taking immediate measures to correct the situation.”
The ruling chiefs are Undang Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Undang Johol Datuk Muhammed Abdullah, Undang Rembau Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin and Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri.
Datuk Mubarak Dohak who was removed in April is part of this group. He is challenging his removal.
