Nine-month-old baby’s ordeal after eating cockroach

A NINE-MONTH-OLD baby in Hunan province, China, suffered severe diarrhoea and vomited after eating a cockroach, China Press reported.

The mother had turned to grab something, only to discover that the baby had somehow caught the insect and put it in his mouth.

She tried to stop him but managed to retrieve only one of the cockroach’s legs.

The mother said she could see fragments of the cockroach in her baby’s stool the next day.

She said the baby had diarrhoea six times and vomited twice.

After the story spread online, Chinese netizens reacted with shock. One suggested that the baby be taken to hospital to determine if treatment was necessary.

> Taiwanese actress Joe Chen dislikes being visited on set while filming, and rarely visits others at work too, Sin Chew Daily reported.

“If it is nothing important, there is really no need to come. Just send me a message instead,” she was quoted as saying.

Explaining, Joe said she has never enjoyed crowded environments and did not want to be disturbed while working.

Now filming a costume drama in China, she said she had to deal with dialogue and language that differed significantly from modern-day dramas.

During breaks, she needed to repeatedly rehearse her lines and study the rhythm of the script, requiring a high level of concentration.

“Friends visiting me on set create psychological pressure because I worry aboutt not being a good host. Their visits can distract me and disrupt my ability to stay immersed in my role,” she said.

Her remarks quickly sparked a discussion online, with netizens recalling an episode of the dating reality show Meeting Mr Right II, when her husband-to-be Alan Chen visited her on set before they officially became a couple.

Back then, some viewers interpreted Joe reaction as being less than enthusiastic.

Now that she has openly admitted disliking being disturbed while working, many fans said they finally understood.

“Looks like it was never personal. She genuinely does not like set visits,” one wrote.

Joe and Alan met on the Chinese reality dating programme in 2019. The couple held their wedding ceremony in Langkawi, Kedah, on Sept 22, 2024.

The place holds significance for them as it was where Alan first asked Joe to be his girlfriend.
