PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional has not fully shut the door on Pakatan Harapan in Negri Sembilan, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“The caretaker Mentri Besar (Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun) has said that they (Pakatan Harapan) will contest in all 36 state seats,” the Barisan Nasional chairman told reporters after the National TVET Day 2026 celebration here on Saturday (June 6).
"Barisan's door is still open and we have not shut the door completely," Ahmad Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister I, told reporters on Saturday (June 6).
He made the comments after attending the National TVET Day 2026 celebration.
Commenting on the ongoing royal crisis in the state, Ahmad Zahid said the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) must be respected.
He added that the best solution for the crisis would be through negotiations instead of taking the matter to court.
The Negri Sembilan state assembly was dissolved on June 5, paving the way for the state elections.
As for the Johor polls, Ahmad Zahid said Barisan has almost completed its finalisation of candidates.
"Tomorrow (June 7), I will have a meeting with the component parties to negotiate on seats," the Umno president said.
He noted that the process has been almost completed for Umno, with the party hoping to finalise the candidates next week.
Ahmad Zahid reiterated that Barisan will contest all 56 state seats in Johor.
The Johor state assembly was dissolved on Monday (June 1), paving the way for the 16th state election.
