Johor polls: BN youth wings give full backing to Onn Hafiz to lead the charge

JOHOR BARU: Johor Barisan Nasional’s youth wings have thrown their full support behind Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi to continue leading the coalition into the upcoming 16th Johor state election.

The wings said their confidence in the caretaker Mentri Besar was based on the state government’s achievements under his leadership, which has positioned Johor among the most competitive states in the country.

"The administration attracted investments, drove economic growth, created premium-income jobs, expanded affordable housing initiatives, implemented poverty eradication programmes and introduced various youth development and rakyat-centric initiatives.

"These achievements show that Johor is on the right track to achieve developed state status by 2030," they said in a joint statement after a meeting of the Umno, MCA, MIC and PPP youth wings on Tuesday (June 2) night.

They called on voters from all backgrounds to continue supporting Barisan in the state election, saying a strong mandate was needed to ensure political stability and the continuity of development policies and programmes.

"We are also stepping up preparations for the election, including strengthening our machinery at all levels, refining election portfolios, enhancing strategic communications and expanding digital media presence.

"Various grassroots programmes are being planned to ensure the youth machinery remains fully prepared," they added.

Johor will hold the 16th state election soon following the dissolution of the state legislative assembly on Monday (June 1).
