Bukit Aman records statement from Azam Baki over two cases


PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has recorded statements from former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki for two cases.

Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said that Azam was called in to provide his statements on the alleged threat against businessman Albert Tei and for a Bloomberg article regarding share ownership with Velocity Capital Partner Berhad.

"Both investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers in accordance with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution in the near future for further advice and instructions.

“The police remain committed to ensuring that transparency and integrity in investigations are always prioritised to guarantee justice, and will not compromise with any individual found to have violated the laws currently in force," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 3).

The public is advised not to make any speculation regarding the case that could potentially affect or interfere with the investigation process.

Earlier, Azam confirmed that he had given his statement to Bukit Aman, whick took around two hours.
