Mother finds son dead in locked room in Tumpat


KOTA BARU: A mother faced a heartbreaking moment when she found her 35-year-old son dead in a locked room inside their house in Kampung Dalam Rhu, Tumpat, on Saturday (May 30).

Tumpat OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Khairi Shafie said his team received a report regarding the incident at 6.27pm, before a team of police and medical staff from Tumpat Hospital were dispatched to the location.

He said the victim, who was unemployed, was found by his mother before medical officers confirmed that the man had died at the scene.

"The victim's body was then taken to the Tumpat Hospital's forensic unit for an autopsy. The results of the post-mortem found that the cause of death could not be determined due to the condition of the body, which had decomposed, with the result recorded as Unascertained (Decomposed Body)," he said in a statement Sunday (May 31).

According to him, so far no criminal elements have been found and the case has been classified as a sudden death case.

In this regard, members of the public who have information related to the incident are requested to contact the Tumpat district police headquarters at 09-725 7222 or any nearby police station to assist in the investigation. - Bernama
