KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of job seekers flocked to the second and final day of the myStarJob Fair 2026, where nearly 50 exhibitors, spread across more than 60 booths, offered career opportunities spanning multiple industries.
The fair featured a variety of activities aimed at supporting job seekers and newly hired employees, including three job matching sessions, four career-focused talks, and two lucky draw sessions with prizes ranging from tablets and watches to e-wallet vouchers and coffee machines.
Among the main highlights was the job-matching session, a speed interview initiative that connected candidates directly with recruiters from various sectors.
Each session lasted two minutes, giving candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves and submit their resumes before potentially being shortlisted for further interviews at company booths, interview rooms, or corporate offices.
The sessions were divided into three categories: human resources, administration, and support; food and beverage, and hospitality and service; as well as IT, technology, and engineering.
Job seeker Joshua Gomez, 28, described the experience as intimidating at first, but ultimately confidence-boosting.
“At first, it seemed a little intimidating, but after the first interview, I immediately felt comfortable and prepared. It was a very smooth session,” he said when met at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre here yesterday.
Gomez, who is seeking opportunities in administration and HR operations, said several recruiters had already requested his details and shared follow-up links for future vacancies.
Another crowd-puller was the resume review activity conducted in partnership with recruitment firm Hays.
Hays talent acquisition manager for South-East Asia, Xander Chan, said many job seekers were looking for guidance on how to make their resumes stand out to recruiters and hiring managers.
“What we did was guide them on how to structure their CVs, what kind of format works best, and how to highlight responsibilities and achievements to improve their chances of securing interviews,” he said.
Resume review participant Yusni Diana Yusof, 44, who is seeking employment in IT quality assurance, said the session helped her understand how to streamline her five-page resume into a more concise and effective format.
“Hays taught me what to remove, what to add, and which format and structure I should use, including how to fully utilise AI. Now I know exactly how to improve my resume,” she said.
The fair also featured talks on the evolving global competency landscape, EPF and financial planning, career growth in the chemical industry, and ethics of natural and lab-grown diamonds.
Lifestyle sponsor Toyota Malaysia also showcased career opportunities across engineering, marketing, sales, and after-sales services, alongside displays of its latest vehicle models.
MyStarJob Fair 2026 will continue its nationwide tour next month at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang, on June 6 and 7, before heading south to the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Southkey, Johor Baru, on July 25 and 26.
