Man nabbed after failed snatch theft attempt in hospital parking lot


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a 34-year-old suspect over an attempted robbery at the parking area of a private hospital in Bukit Jalil.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said the incident occurred at about 11.30am on May 18 when the suspect opening the victim's car door in an attempt to snatch her mobile phone and bag.

"A struggle ensued and the victim screamed for help. The suspect then fled the scene on a motorcycle," he said on Saturday (May 23).

He said a police report was made and the suspect was detained at 5.36pm on May 20 in Brickfields.

"The suspect has a record for previous criminal offences.

"We also seized a motorcycle, jacket and helmet used during the incident," he said,

ACP Mohd Rosdi said the suspect was remanded and charged under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
