Medical report pending in case of woman exiting moving car

KLANG: Police are still investigating an incident in which a woman got out of a moving e-hailing vehicle, with investigators awaiting her full medical report.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao, when contacted on Thursday (May 21), said no action had been taken against the driver as investigations were still ongoing.

“As the matter is still under investigation, no action has been taken against the driver yet. The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” he said.

ACP Vijaya Rao said the medical report was needed to determine the extent of the woman’s injuries, adding that she was found not to be suffering from any mental illness.

The 47-year-old e-hailing driver had lodged a police report over the May 1 incident, which occurred near a petrol station in Taman Eng Ann.

He was ferrying two passengers when one of the women opened the rear passenger door and got out while the vehicle was still moving.

The incident later went viral on social media after dashcam footage was circulated.

Police had previously said the woman was believed to have become anxious and feared for her safety, claiming that the driver had been looking at her through the rear-view mirror without reason.
