‘TVET needs to create jobs of high quality’

PUTRAJAYA: The main challenge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is no longer just about creating job opportunities but ensuring that the jobs created are of high quality, productive and offer better income to workers.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar (pic) said TVET is critical for reducing the mismatch between skills and industry needs while also addressing employability issues among graduates.

He said TVET is also important for increasing workforce productivity and driving the transformation of the nation’s industry.

“I emphasised this while chairing the High-Level Committee meeting of the National TVET Council to ensure that the human capital development agenda continues to be strengthened to meet future needs,” he said in a Facebook post.
