District police chief in Sarawak under investigation for sexual harassment


KUCHING: An officer in charge of a police district (OCPD) in Sarawak is being investigated over allegations of sexually harassing a female officer.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed the matter, stating that further investigations were underway to determine the veracity of the report.

"(At this stage) It is merely an allegation, it is not necessarily true. We will investigate first," he said when contacted by Bernama.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

Earlier, the victim, who is stationed at the same police headquarters, lodged a report claiming she had been harassed by the senior officer.

The incidents allegedly took place at their workplace as well as the officer's residence. – Bernama
