Biker dies after crashing into parked lorry on Elite Highway


SHAH ALAM: A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a trailer lorry that had stopped at the emergency lane at KM3.8 of the Elite Highway here on Friday (May 15).

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the accident, which occurred at about 7am, involved a motorcycle and an unloaded trailer lorry.

“Initial investigations found that the trailer lorry, which was travelling from Seafield towards Bukit Jelutong, had stopped at the emergency lane after suffering a tyre blowout.

“A local male motorcyclist in his 30s, travelling in the same direction, then crashed into the rear right side of the lorry,” he said in a statement.

He said the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Those with information on the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Abdul Nasser Peping of the Shah Alam Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 012-2863875 to assist in investigations.
