Young dad battles disfiguring jaw tumour

Actor and producer Aedy Ashraf touched the hearts of many after dedicating his first produced film to his mother, veteran actress Liza Zain, in conjunction with the recent Mothers Day celebrations, Kosmo! reported.

In an emotional social media post, Aedy said he may not have been able to present his mother with academic achievements but he described his debut film Tarung: Unforgiven as the greatest gift he could offer her.

The 33-year-old said the film symbolised the love, upbringing and sacrifices his mother had given him throughout his life.

“I may not be able to give you a degree certificate but this feels like my graduation day,” he said.

Liza later responded to the tribute, saying she had never expected a university degree from her son and that seeing him grow into a hardworking and passionate man was enough to make her proud.

“You have always made me proud,” she said.

> The daily also reported that a man is appealing for public donations after what began as a minor lump on his chin which has morphed into a debilitating RM80,000 medical crisis.

Mohamad Khamarul Johariusin, 26, is suffering from an ameloblastoma tumour beneath his jaw, which has grown so large that he can no longer fully close his mouth.

He said his condition has worsened in recent months, causing persistent discharge while severe pain has left him struggling with sleep.

“I worry that I may not live long enough to see my two children grow up,” said the factory production supervisor.

Mohamad Khamarul said he initially dismissed the lump as a dental issue but it gradually became more serious towards the end of last year.

Unable to chew properly, he now relies mainly on soft foods such as porridge and milk.

Doctors have warned that delaying treatment could cause the tumour to become cancerous and increase the risk of fracturing his jawbone.

One Hope Charity and Welfare chairman Datuk Chua Sui Hau said the organisation is helping to raise RM80,000 needed for the surgery.

He said the amount was beyond Mohamad Khamarul’s means because he has been on unpaid leave since September last year while his wife is a homemaker.
