Policeman dies during drill at Sepang district police HQ


SEPANG: A policeman died after collapsing during a marching drill at the Sepang district police headquarters here Wednesday (May 13).

Corporal Khairil Idzhar Rodzi, 36, attached to the Dato' Abu Bakar Baginda police station, was pronounced dead at the headquarters, while the cause of death has yet to be determined.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar and Selangor Police Family Association (Perkep) chairperson Datin Rozana Kasbon conveyed their condolences to the family of Khairil Idzhar following his passing.

"Allahyarham passed away at the age of 36, having served in the Royal Malaysia Police for 17 years.

"The passing of Cpl 171014 Khairil Idzhar is a great loss to the Selangor police contingent. Salam takziah," Comm Shazeli said in a statement posted on the Selangor Police official Facebook page.

Media reports stated that Cpl Khairil Idzhar collapsed during a drill and was pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Health Ministry.

At press time, no official statement has been issued by the Sepang district police headquarters on the cause of death. - Bernama
