Hunt on for sex offender

SHAH ALAM: A suspect wanted by police for allegedly confining and sexually assaulting a teenaged boy was previously convicted of a similar offence.

It was reported that the man had allegedly confined and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in an apartment in Bukit Kemuning on Tuesday.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have deceived the victim by offering to buy him a mobile data top-up in exchange for helping to carry items to his house.

“The victim was then bound before being sexually assaulted by the suspect.

“While being confined and left alone in the house, the victim managed to free himself and scream for help through a window,” he said.

The teenager was believed to have been confined for about three hours before being rescued by a neighbour, who immediately contacted the police, he added.

ACP Ramsay said the suspect was previously sentenced in 2008 to 17 years’ imprisonment for wrongfully confining and raping a woman in Pandan Indah.

“The previous offence occurred on Dec 15, 2007.”

ACP Ramsay advised the public to monitor children’s movements and to remind them not to approach strangers to avoid unwanted incidents.

He said the suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to locate him.

“We are still tracking down the suspect,” he said when contacted.

The case is being investigated under Sections 323, 342 and 377C of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement and carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
