Bukit Aman seizes 300 sacks of smuggled rice in Perak raid

PETALING JAYA: Hundreds of sacks of rice, believed to be smuggled, have been seized in a raid by Bukit Aman in Perak.

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau/Special Investigation Intelligence (WCB/PSK) commander Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar said that the raid was conducted at around 6am on Wednesday (May 13) on Jalan Gerik in Kuala Kangsar.

"The raid led to the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of one lorry alongside rice sacks believed to have been smuggled into the country from a neighbouring country.

"The suspect failed to produce any documentation relating to the rice," he said in a statement.

Around 300 sacks worth RM69,000 were seized, in addition to the lorry.

The suspect and seized items have been handed over to the Perak Padi and Rice Regulatory Division for further action, SAC Zaki added.
