KLANG: A passenger boat was detained by the Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) after it was found operating with an expired licence during an operation about 1.3 nautical miles northwest of Sungai Puloh on Monday (May 11).
Selangor MMEA director Captain Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said the boat was detained at about 3.30pm by a Maritime Malaysia vessel conducting Ops Ehsan, Ops Tiris 4.0 and Ops Khas Tanjung 2 Series 1/2026 in Selangor waters.
“Initial inspections found that the boat was operated by a 44-year-old local man acting as the skipper, along with a 45-year-old local male crew member.
“Checks on the documentation revealed that the boat’s licence had expired,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 12).

Capt Muhaimin said the boat, skipper and crew were later brought to the Pulau Indah Marine Police Force jetty before being handed over to Selangor Maritime investigating officers for further action.
“The case is being investigated under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 for failing to renew the boat’s licence,” he said.
He also reminded the maritime community to be more aware of licensing requirements set by the authorities.
“Maritime Malaysia will not compromise against any individual who fails to comply with valid licensing conditions,” he stressed.
Members of the public with complaints, information or facing emergencies at sea can contact the Selangor Maritime Headquarters Operations Centre at 013-6606652 or the 999 emergency line for immediate action.
