Cops nab four for allegedly setting off firecrackers during rally

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested four men for allegedly setting off firecrackers during a "Tangkap Azam Baki" gathering in Kuala Lumpur.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said investigations are ongoing and the investigation paper has been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers for further instructions.

"Four local men were detained over the investigation and have since been released on police bail.

"The investigation paper has also been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers for further instructions," he said in a brief statement on Tuesday (May 12).

It was previously reported that police were tracking down the mastermind behind the firecracker incident during the protest gathering on April 25 against former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Police also found another firecracker hidden in a landscaped area near the gathering site.

He said the case is being investigated under Sections 6 and 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.
