Pupil falls from roof while trying to fetch shoe


MELAKA: Police confirmed receiving a report on a Year Five pupil who was injured after falling from the roof of a bicycle shed at a primary school in Batu Berendam.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at about 12.40pm on Wednesday.

Initial investigations found that the boy had climbed onto the roof to retrieve another pupil’s shoe that he had thrown and was lodged there.

“While attempting to climb back to the first floor of the school building, part of the roof gave way, causing the victim to fall and injure his right leg,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.

The boy received emergency treatment at the school before being taken to Hospital Melaka and later transferred to a private hospital for further treatment.

ACP Christopher said the pupil is in stable condition and sustained a minor fracture on his right ankle.

The criminal investigation team, forensic personnel and witnesses confirmed that the incident was accidental, with no elements of bullying, abuse or negligence.
