Bank Muamalat unveils Atlas, a Shariah-compliant digital banking platform

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Muamalat) unveiled Atlas, its next-generation Shariah-compliant digital banking platform, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s transformation into a digital-first Islamic financial institution.

Held under the theme “Your Journey to Better,” its recent launch event at IOI Mall Putrajaya was designed to provide an immersive introduction to Atlas, redefining how customers interact with Islamic banking through a fully digital, lifestyle-integrated experience.

Visitors had the opportunity to engage with the Atlas Discovery Hub, an interactive showcase of the platform’s innovative capabilities, alongside curated on-ground engagements aimed at enhancing financial literacy and user experience.

In conjunction with the launch, customers who registered for an Atlas account and activated it with a minimum deposit were eligible to participate in a lucky draw featuring a range of premium rewards, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to delivering meaningful and rewarding banking experiences.

Since its initial rollout, Atlas has recorded strong early adoption with a growing base of downloads and active users, signalling rising demand for accessible, digital-first Islamic banking solutions.

This progress reflects the bank’s role in supporting Malaysia’s digital economy by accelerating financial inclusion, promoting cashless transactions, and enhancing access to secure and Shariah-compliant financial services.

Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin said Atlas represents a pivotal step forward in the bank’s digitalisation journey and its aspiration to redefine Islamic banking for the modern era.

“Atlas goes beyond a digital banking application. It represents our commitment to reimagine Islamic banking as a seamless, everyday companion that integrates financial management with lifestyle and values.

“Guided by the principle of Amanah, we are entrusted to serve our customers with integrity, transparency and responsibility. Atlas embodies this trust by delivering solutions that are not only innovative, but also aligned with the best interests and long-term well-being of our customers.”

He added: “As Malaysia accelerates towards a digital economy, Atlas also plays a critical role in expanding access to inclusive and secure financial services, ensuring no segment of society is left behind in this transformation.”

Atlas offers a fully Shariah-compliant savings solution, complemented by the Savings Pouch feature with a competitive profit rate of up to 2.25% per annum. Designed as a digital-first platform, Atlas removes the need for physical branch dependency, enabling customers to open and manage their accounts anytime, anywhere.

Beyond core banking functionalities, the platform supports the holistic lifestyle needs of users, particularly within the Muslim segment, through integrated features such as prayer times, daily supplications, Al-Quran access, kiblat direction and mosque locators.

Future enhancements, including aqiqah and qurban services, are in the pipeline, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to enabling customers to fulfil both financial and spiritual needs through a single platform.

In line with its “banking with purpose” proposition, Atlas introduces a Lifestyle Reward Points system that rewards customers for their everyday banking activities, transforming routine transactions into a more engaging and value-driven experience.

Looking ahead, Bank Muamalat plans to expand Atlas with financing and investment solutions within the year, progressively evolving the platform into a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem that supports wealth creation and long-term financial resilience.

The platform also enhances accessibility to the bank’s flagship Save2Win campaign, allowing customers to participate seamlessly via Atlas without visiting a branch. This reflects the bank’s continued focus on driving convenience, inclusivity and digital adoption across its customer base.
