MetMalaysia: Thunderstorm, heavy rain in most states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting most states, including Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, until 5pm Sunday (May 3).

MetMalaysia said the affected states include Perlis; Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Yan, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); and Penang.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim).

Also expected to be affected are Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu and Seremban) and Johor (Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).

In addition, Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman) and Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai) are also affected.

Meanwhile, in Sarawak, the areas involved are Miri (Subis and Miri) and Limbang, while in Sabah, the affected areas include the interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), the west coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau, Sandakan and Kudat. — Bernama
