Zahid to meet Negri reps over support withdrawal

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will meet with Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional assemblymen to discuss their position following their withdrawal of support for the Pakatan Harapan-led state government, says government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil (pic).

“The Deputy Prime Minister has informed the Cabinet that he will meet with the Barisan state assemblymen soon,” he told a press conference after the Cabinet meeting yesterday.

Fahmi added that during the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also stressed it is business as usual for the Negri Sembilan government.

“The Federal Government would not interfere in matters related to adat (customary practices) in the state.

“The Prime Minister has made it clear that the state government continues to function as normal and that issues involving adat are under the purview of the state,” he added.

Fahmi also stressed that the unity government at both the federal and state levels, including in Negri Sembilan, remains unaffected.
