Fire guts shophouse in Sungai Besar


PETALING JAYA: A shophouse in Jalan Parit 13, Sungai Nibong, Sungai Besar, Selangor was about 70% destroyed in a fire on Monday (April 27).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call at about 2pm.

"Fire engines from the Sungai Besar Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 2.08pm, with assistance from the Sekinchan station.

"The fire involved a Class B shophouse measuring 70 sq ft by 40 sq ft, with about 70% of the structure destroyed. The fire also involved two cars," he said in a statement on Monday.

He said the blaze was brought under control at about 2.15pm and there were no casualties.

A total of 10 personnel and three fire engines were deployed.
