Give your full support to new chief commissioner, Azam Baki tells MACC staff

KUALA LUMPUR: All Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers and personnel must give their full cooperation to the incoming chief commissioner, says Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The outgoing head of the anti-graft agency, whose tenure will end on May 12, urged those in the commission to set aside any differences and continue strengthening the agency.

“I am confident that the excellence of MACC will continue to be upheld by its officers under the new leadership,” he told reporters after an event in Negri Sembilan on Saturday (April 25).

Azam also express his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the trust placed in him throughout his tenure, which saw his contract extended three times.

"The extensions were a great honour and I am grateful," he said.

On his future plans, Azam said nothing had been decided yet, noting that he remains in good health and continues to stay active through activities such as jogging and cycling.

He also dismissed any speculation about entering politics, stressing that he is not a political figure.

“I am a public servant. My duty has always been to serve the rakyat,” he added.
