A MAN suffocated his toddler to death after she “cried too much” during a family quarrel, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The man, identified only as Sriramulu, hails from the Indian southern state of Telangana and has speech and hearing impairments.

He got married three years ago to Nagamani, who has the same disabilities.

Since the birth of their daughter Nithyasree two years ago, the couple have had frequent fights.

Nagamani often took her daughter to her parents’ home during their tiffs, resulting in a bond between the girl and her grandfather.

After their latest argument, Sriramulu went over to his in-laws’ house, placated his wife and brought her and the toddler home.

But days later, Nagamani called her father over to her house following another fight.

Upon seeing her grandfather, Nithyasree ran to him excitedly.

Sriramulu, who was worried that Nagamani might leave again with her father, separated the child from her grandfather.

When the toddler began crying incessantly, he took her away on his motorbike.

Sriramulu claimed he was simply trying to quieten the child and covered her nose and mouth with his hand.

However, Nithyasree was later found to have suffocated to death.

After the girl died, Sriramulu surrendered to the police.
