Man confined in apartment for three days over friend's RM100,000 gambling debt

KUALA LUMPUR: A man was trapped inside an apartment unit for several days after standing as guarantor for a friend who absconded with RM100,000 in gambling debts.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 36-year-old was rescued from an apartment unit in the district on Friday (April 17).

"Preliminary investigations showed that the victim was used as a 'guarantor' for a friend who owed RM100,000 in gambling debts.

"After the friend ran away, the victim was held for three days by the suspects as pressure to settle the debt," he said in a statement on Monday (April 20).

Two suspects in their 30s were arrested at the scene, he added.

"Both suspects have been remanded for three days, while efforts to track down the main culprit, who is still at large, are ongoing," ACP Rosdi said.
