Melaka secondary school teacher arrested for allegedly molesting disabled student

JASIN: Melaka police have arrested a 60-year-old male secondary school teacher on suspicion of molesting a 15-year-old female student.

The incident came to light after the Form Three student, who has learning disabilities, confided in her elder sister. The victim said she felt traumatised and was afraid to return to school.

According to a police source, the alleged incident occurred at about 1pm on Thursday (April 16) when the victim and two friends visited the staff room.

“The suspect suddenly approached the student from behind and allegedly molested her. The teacher also asked the victim lewd questions that made her uncomfortable,” the source said on Saturday (April 18).

The suspect reportedly warned the victim not to tell anyone, despite the incident being witnessed by her friends. The victim eventually reported the matter, leading to the suspect's arrest.

Melaka Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed the arrest. The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
