Crime prevention, integrity forum to be held in Penang on April 23

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Crime Consciousness and Public Safety Society (CCPSS) will organise a prime forum about crime prevention and integrity on April 23.

Forum special advisor Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin said the event will be held at the St Giles Hotel grand ballroom from 8.30am to 12.30pm and will be attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

"The theme of the forum is 'Empowering Integrity and Crime Consciousness Towards Public Safety," he said during a press conference on Thursday (April 16).

Khaw added that the forum will cover multiple dimensions of public safety and enforcement.

Other topics to be discussed include unity, public safety and awareness and the strengthening of community resilience in addressing emerging security challenges.

Ayob Khan will deliver his keynote speech during the event before the prime forum, which will comprise five panellists who have served with the government for over 30 years each in public service.

The panellists are CCPSS chairman and former Bukit Aman narcotics investigation department deputy director Datuk Zainudin Ahmad, former Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Saadon Mokhtar, former Penang Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) director Tuan Ruslan Tuan Mat and former Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Unity Dr. Kang Tong Hum.

Former state education director Abdul Said Hussain will moderate the forum.

Khaw said that 1,000 people have registered to attend the event so far, with another 500 expected to register in the coming days.

An online session will also be available.

During the question-and-answer session, the public will be allowed to ask related questions or give their views during the forum.
