Over RM100,000 channelled to improve facilities at Kota Damansara school


PETALING JAYA: More than RM100,000 has been channelled to improve facilities and support students at SMK Seksyen 8 Kota Damansara since 2023.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said ensuring a conducive learning environment is a priority.

"Developing school infrastructure and supporting students is an important investment for the country's future.

"We will continue to ensure schools like SMK Seksyen 8 Kota Damansara receive the attention they deserve so that students' talents and potential can be better developed," he said in a statement on Sunday (April 12).

Ramanan, who is also Sungai Buloh MP, said the contributions were channelled through his parliamentary service centre.

In 2023, RM41,700 was allocated for air-conditioning in the computer lab, resource centre, teachers' room, counselling room and examination room.

In 2024, RM17,034 was spent on air coolers and public address equipment for the school hall, along with RM10,000 for the People's Tuition Programme organised by Yayasan Bank Rakyat.

Another RM21,800 was allocated for school programmes, including support for the annual sports this year's sports day, an additional RM5,000 was provided on top of nearly RM10,000 in prizes for winners.

Ramanan also announced funding under the Projek Mesra Rakyat to upgrade the school's surau, following requests from the school community.

He also said he had contacted Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh regarding a new school field.
