Man pleads guilty to wounding his two teen children with knife

SEREMBAN: A 46-year-old father is facing a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here to charges of wounding his two teenage children with a knife.

The accused entered the plea immediately after the charges were read before Judge N. Kanageswari at the Sessions Court.

He was charged with committing the offences against his 16-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son at their flat.

The incident occurred around 5pm on April 6.

The accused, who was unrepresented, was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons, read together with Section 326A of the same legislation.

Section 324 carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, or both.

However, Section 326A applies to offences committed against family members, allowing for a prison term twice as long as the maximum period stated under the original section.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi asked the court for a later date for the submission of facts and sentencing.

The prosecution did not offer the accused bail.

Judge Kanageswari fixed April 16 for sentencing.
