Slithering guest gets sacked mid shift

Scaly standoff: Construction workers and Civil Defence officials posing with the captured snake.

KOTA KINABALU: A 2m-long python was captured at a construction site in Sandakan.

In the incident on Thursday afternoon, a construction worker noticed the reptile near Taman Harmoni, Batu 3, close to where he was working and immediately alerted his workmates and authorities for help.

Sandakan Civil Defence officials responded to the call, and arrived with tools to capture the 10kg snake.

They managed to get it into a sack safely, and no one, including the python, was injured in the operation.

Officials reminded the public to refrain from taking action on their own when faced with wildlife species and to call the authorities for help.
